Rohini Court murder: Juvenile among 3 arrested

The Delhi Police on Friday arrested two men and apprehended a juvenile for the murder of an undertrial prisoner within the Rohini Court premises on Monday morning.

Police on Friday said the accused— Vikram Sehrawat, Praveen Chahar and the juvenile — were hired by the Neeraj Bawana gang. “The main target was Rajesh Bawania, who was to appear at Rohini court on Monday. However, Abdul Khan, the accused arrested from spot, was made to drink so much that he mistakenly fired at Vinod.

According to a senior police officer, Vinod, a Mangolpuri resident, who was produced before the court in a cheating case registered in 2010, was shot dead on the Rohini Court premises on Monday. The shooter, Abdul Khan, who managed to smuggle in a gun despite security, was arrested from the spot. He had told the police that he was hired to execute the murder.

Police added that during the course of investigation, name of jailed gangster Neeraj Bawana cropped up after Abdul Khan showed them a tattoo of Bawana which he had got on his chest.

While the motive behind Vinod ‘s murder was not specified by the senior police officers, police sources said it could be a case of mistaken identity as Khan was tasked to eliminate one of Bawana’s rivals who was also to appear in the court on Monday.

Rishi Pal, DCP (Rohini) said, “The accused, Praveen Chahar provided shelter to the accused Vikram Sehrawat and the delinquent juvenile. They lured the accused Abdul Khan into committing the crime and planned the systematic murder. On November 12, Vikram, Abdul Khan and juvenile reached Rohini Courts in a Santro car. On the way, they consumed some intoxicating tablets and syrup. The photograph of the deceased Vinod  was shown to Abdul Khan and he was tasked to carry out the hit.

The desi katta used in the crime was provided by another accomplice of the gang who is resident of village Bawana. Accused Abdul Khan, under the effect of intoxication, fired at deceased Vinod while he was being escorted after appearance in the court. The victim died at the spot, DCP said.”
