Head Constable Amit Tomar accused of opening fire on a Crime Branch team and extortion is using every trick in the book to obfuscate the ongoing probe.
HC Tomar on Friday afternoon had enacted a drama of sorts, as he made a call on the police control room that he was going to join the investigation and before that, he even sent an e-mail on the official mail ID of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Inter State Cell). Tomar, who was drafted in a special police team of South East district under then Additional DCP Joy Tirkey, had obtained an order from Saket Court that prevented his arrest.
The court’s order read ‘no coercive action’ till further orders and this order had stumped the Inter State Cell of the Crime Branch and the sleuths are now going to move court to quash the orders. In a related matter, the Naib Court posted in the court of Additional Sessions Judge (Saket) VK Khanna has been placed under suspension by the DCP, South-East. The Naib Court, Manish has failed to inform the prosecution after HC Tomar moved for ‘no coercive action’ order.
Police sources said Tomar made a PCR call and reached Malviya Nagar office of the anti-robbery cell. “Tomar had joined the investigations on Thursday and arrived with his lawyer. Before arriving, he sent an e-mail on the official mail ID of ACP, Inter State Cell, Satish Yadav and informed him that he was coming for the investigation.”
Tomar is not cooperating in the investigations and replying in a brazen manner. On being questioned why he fired on the Crime Branch team and about the extortion money, he denied that he was even present at the spot. “He reportedly said at the time of incident (6.48 pm) he was sitting with his informer in Okhla area. He is creating an alibi for himself as distance from Nehru Place to Okhla is only 2 km away and he could easily cover that distance. Tomar again sent an e-mail of his day log table to ACP (ISC) to help him legally,” sources added.
