Incidents of burglary and theft at the houses of senior Delhi Government officials in the North district area in the past few months have seen an increase.
According to one senior Delhi Government official, in the past two to three months, there has been a sharp rise
in the number of burglary cases at their flats in North Delhi’s Gulabi Bagh area.
Between October and November, roughly four First Information Reports (FIR) have been registered with the Delhi Police at the Gulabi Bagh police station.
In one of the complaints registered with the Delhi Police, a senior official identified as one Ashwani Kumar had stated that while he had gone out of Delhi with his family for Chath Puja in the second week of October, his house was allegedly found to be burgled with cash and jewellery missing.
One of his neighbours, who was the caretaker of this official’s house found that the lock at the main door of Kumar’s house was found to be broken and the belongings were found to be ransacked and scattered.
A group of these officials alleged that they have often complained to police to take strict action but these cases of burglary and theft have neither been solved nor an action has been taken in the direction to put a stop to them.
Madhur Verma, DCP (North) said, “We have increased night pockets. Further probe is on.”
