A Delhi Police Sub-Inspector was injured in a road rage incident when he was attacked by three men who picked up a fight with him over giving pass in a lane of Ghazipur area in East Delhi.

The sub-inspector, identified as Dipak Pandey, was attacked on Thursday when he was returning home from his duty in East Delhi, said a senior police official on Friday.

In a lane near his house two men on a scooty picked up a fight with him accusing him of not giving way to them.

The duo during the fight with the cop, called another man and the three, who were all reportedly under influence of alcohol, started fighting and abusing him. When he resisted, they hit him with a stone on the head, said the officer.

“The sub-inspector asked them to behave themselves as they were under influence of alcohol and told them that the lane was narrow and there is no space. This angered them and they stopped Dipak. They even called a friend and hit on Dipak’s head with a stone,” he said.

The injured cop made a PCR call and was taken to lBS hospital for treatment. Police later detained two accused and was questioning them for arresting the third accused, he added.
