Three days after a 75-year-old woman was found murdered inside her house in North West Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh area, police have arrested a rickshawpuller who posed as a plumber to gain entrance inside her house.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Aslam Khan, the accused has been identified as Budhai, who is a resident of Jahangirpuri. Police have said the accused used to work as a rickshawpuller and has been previously charged under an extortion case in Samaypur Badli.
Police have also claimed to have recovered two earrings, one gold necklace, two gold bangles and a mobile phone belonging to the deceased from the possession of the accused.
The deceased identified as Raj Rani, was found dead by her son, lakshay Grover on January 26. Police had said the woman had her throat slit with a knife and her house ransacked. Following the murder, the police had also gained access to two CCTV cameras and found a suspicious youth loitering around her house, who the police had claimed was a plumber.
Police then formed 15 teams to work the case. The investigators had found that the woman had called two plumbers to her house to repair a water motor. “We had picked up the two plumbers and later found that they were accompanied by a third person who posed as a plumber,” said a police officer.
