Delhi farmers on Friday thronged outside the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal claiming the new set ups of liquor shops in their areas will deteriorate law and order situation.
Demanding to cancel the decision of opening liquor shops under new excise policy, Surendra Solanki, head, Palam – 360 said all issues on major projects on village development should be resolved soon.
Terming their protest as ‘Mahapanchayat’ , the farmers also demanded compensation on land acquisition to a reasonable limit as compared to other states and a ban on acquisition of rural area lands by Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
Solanki said that he has written several times to the Chief Minister and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi demanding that under the new excise policy in Delhi countryside, new liquor shops will not be tolerated at all. Our message is very loud and clear that we will not allow the issues of the village countryside to be ignored at any cost, nor will we allow liquor shops to open in our village because it threatens to spoil our social system.
