Retired Vidyut Board employee representatives meet Gonda MlA

Representatives of over 450 employees of erstwhile Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB) of Ghonda constituency met their local MlA Dutt Sharma regarding the problems being faced by them after retirement.

“Nowadays, pension is not consistent, cashless medical facility abolished, bill reimbursement pending for more than 10 months, employees are dying in the absence of proper medical facility, tax is being deducted as per private employees at the time of retirement and other benefits are being snatched day by day,” the employees complained.

They requested Sharma to intervene and take up the matter at Government level and help to resolve the issue. Sharma assured them that he will look into the issues and will take up the matter at appropriate level.

As per the employees, DVB was unbundled and privatised by the Delhi Government in 2002. The employees of DVB were also assured that their service conditions will either remain the same or will be improved.

“Accordingly, a trust namely Pension Trust was formed to take care of the employees till the last employee or the dependent dies i.e. for next 60 years approximately. But the trust became bankrupt in less than 10 years. Trust is not in the position to look after the interest of employees for which they were assured,” they said.

“The Trust says that private distribution companies are not paying their share and companies say that it is not our liability. If no one is ready to take responsibility, how the situation is supposed to improveIJ” ask the employees.
