Five men, including a retired official from the Defence Ministry, were injured after a clash broke out over an issue of parking in South Delhi, police said on Sunday. The clash broke out between the two families in a locality in South Delhi’s Sunlight Colony area on Saturday noon. Pooranchand Goswami, who is retired section officer in Armed Forces headquarters, alleged that he was beaten up by his neighbour and their relative with hockey sticks. His son Manoj, two other relatives and a neighbour were also injured in the clash.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Mandeep Singh Randhawa, a case has been registered and a probe started. Police have also collected recordings from the CCTV camera installed outside his house. The recording shows a man holding a hockey stick and attacking him and his family members.  The victims in their complaint alleged that they were attacked in front of the police.

Goswami told police that Keshav, who is a property dealer, often parks his SUV outside his (Goswami) residence despite repeated requests to refrain from parking. “On Saturday, he was standing outside his home when Keshav came along with two three people and parked the car outside his home. When he objected, they started beating him up. They also punched his son and two other relatives who came to his rescue,” Goswami said in his police complaint.
