Reluctant to earn, man kills wife in rage

A 30-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife at their residence in Outer Delhi’s Samaipur Badli on Wednesday night, following an argument over his reluctance to take up a job and earn a living.

Senior police officers claimed that the couple with their two young children were living off the earnings of the victim, who worked as a nurse in a private clinic as her husband was an alcoholic.

Police said the deceased, Neha, was married to Praveen Rana since 2007. After sending off the children to school, Praveen and Neha allegedly got into a heated argument and it is suspected that he slit her throat with a sharp object.

Praveen is currently absconding, so police is not sure what triggered him to murder his wife. However, Neha’s family has alleged that Praveen was unemployed and allegedly used to harass his wife, said a senior police officer.

Police said that they have registered a case of murder at the Samaipur Badli police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Meanwhile, the Police is questioning Neha’s family members and teams have been formed to nab the accused.
