After over 15 days of hectic campaigning, the BJP leaders appeared to be relieved on Tuesday. With no early morning canvassing for votes, the leaders, including its chief ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan, utilised the time to hold discussions with his poll managers and micro booth level management. leaders like Harsh Vardhan, Vijay Goel, Vijender Gupta and the Delhi BJP in-charge Nitin Gadkari spent a long time in the State unit office at Pant Marg, interacting informally with media and party workers.

“The poll preparations are complete. We are only focusing on last moment booth managements. The volunteers on booths have been instructed to ensure maximum people come out to cast their votes,” said Vijay Goel, Delhi BJP president. Similarly, Vijender Gupta, the BJP candidate from New Delhi Assembly constituency, used the time to relax and go through the final strategy. Unlike his early morning meetings with RWAs and local voters, he spent the morning at his residence. After his meeting with senior BJP leaders at the party office, he held several rounds of discussions with volunteers. “I am confident. I don’t like last-minute preparations,” said Gupta.

The BJP leaders exuded confidence that the party would get a comfortable majority in Delhi Assembly polls. Former BJP president Nitin Gadkari said the BJP would win at least 40 seats and that it would not be a surprise if it even wins 50 seats. He, however, ruled out the possibility of post-poll alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party in case the BJP falls short of majority. “There will be no alliance with the AAP or any other party. The BJP will get clear majority with at least 40 seats,” Gadkari said. He also said Narendra Modi played a major role in turning the wave in favour of the BJP.

“There has been a wave in favour of the BJP. The Congress has literally accepted its defeat. The cancellation of the Prime Minister’s rally in Delhi is a testimony to this,” Gadkari said, adding people in Delhi would primarily vote weighing issues of corruption, price rise and women’s safety. “I am hopeful that voting percentage in Delhi will be at its all-time high this time,” he added.
