The Delhi University recently declared the results of its first batch under the four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP) and as per sources the pass percentage has seen a whopping increase compared to previous years. According to sources in the university, the reason for this is the change in policy that came along with the implementation of FYUP.
According to the new policy being applied under FYUP, students can be promoted to the next semester if they achieve a minimum of 40 per cent as aggregate of all subjects studied in the semester. This way a student cannot be held back if he/she has failed in a subject. “If a student earlier failed in a subject he/she had to repeat the examination. However, now if students get more than 40 per cent overall marks, they are promoted to the next semester,” said a source.
This comes as a boon to several students who would have been held back because of their poor performance in one subject. It gives them a chance to better their performance in the coming semester rather than redo old study material.
Moving ahead of time, the University of Delhi on Saturday announced the results of first-year students, taking them by surprise. Usually, the results are declared in the month of July as this is the vacation time. But this time, the university managed to collate all the marks well before time. Fortunately for students, it was much to their delight since most cleared the examination.
