'Relax, chill for 2 days,' Kejri tells AAP workers

After several weeks of hard work, Aam Aadmi Party’s backroom boys and girls took a day off on Sunday and went with senior leaders, including party chief Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, to watch a movie. AAP’s volunteers have been a key part of the strengthening of the party in the national Capital since their lowdown in the lok Sabha elections. However, with the polling over on Saturday and a two-day gap till the counting day on Tuesday, Kejriwal asked all his volunteers to go take some rest. On Sunday morning, the party chief tweeted, “Volunteers, you did an amazing job. Relax for two days. Spend time with your family. Sleep, watch movies, meditate and chill. God bless you.”

Thus, Sunday was not only a day of luxury for these volunteers who have worked over 20 hours a day at times to get AAP through this election, they were also nowhere to be seen near their offices. While the AAP party offices in North Avenue and Patel Nagar were deserted, there was little action in the Kaushambi office but only till afternoon. The senior leaders of AAP had a preparatory meeting in Kaushambi at 2.30 pm after which they went to watch a movie with over 100 volunteers. “It was a preparatory meeting. The party took stock of the situation and weighed all the possibilities that may emerge after the verdict on February 10,” said a senior leader.

Kejriwal too unwound after the hectic months of campaigning in Delhi. Sandeep, an AAP volunteer who was responsible for the door-to-door campaign in Madipur area, said, “I will be keeping a track of my calories now and get back to gym. Our days started early during the campaign days so could not give much time but it’s time to unwind now.”

“Kejriwal also asked us to spend time with family today and watch movies. I am doing the same,” said another volunteer, AK Tyagi, from West Delhi’s Mangolpuri. Dinesh Kumar from Mundka said, “I was responsible for mobilising the youth support in my area. We conducted back-to-back meetings in past one month. Today I am just spending time with friends discussing poll trends casually.”
