The water utility also decided to launch a scheme of regularising unauthorised water connections in the city. Earlier for getting an unauthorised water connection regularised, the applicant was required to pay an amount of Rs20,000, which on Thursday was reduced to Rs3,310.
“The move will encourage consumers to take water through an authorised connection. It is a part of the DJB’s agenda to provide piped water to all the citizens of the city and also to cut down the non-revenue water loss.
This will help DJB in enforcing better water accounting as well as reduction in non-revenue water,” said a DJB official.
