AAP Government’s promise to make permanent the contractual employees in Government offices has come as a shot in arm for the BJP-ruled Municipal Corporations. The leaders of South and East Delhi Municipal Corporations on Friday demanded that their contractual employees be regularised with immediate effect. leader of House in South Delhi Corporation, Subhash Arya said the civic bodies do not have the powers to recruit permanent employees and so the Government should look into the matter so that better services could be ensured.
“There was a shortage of about 400 junior engineers, 9,000 school teachers and other technical staff in various departments of municipal corporations. Since the corporations do not have the power to recruit permanent employees, it resorted to recruitment of the employees on contract basis,” Arya said.
