A 15-year-old boy allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from the roof of his school’s building on Sohna Road on Tuesday morning. His condition is stated to be critical, police said. It has been revealed that the boy was cross with his parents as they had refused to buy a bike for him.
The Class IX student of a prominent private school was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Sector-38 where he is undergoing treatment. According to police, they are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind his suicide attempt. The student sustained injuries to his head.
“The victim was not in a position to register his statement. He has been admitted to a hospital and we are probing the matter,” a senior police official said.
It has been learnt that the boy had argued with his parents over buying a new bike a few days ago. When his parents refused to fulfill his demand he took this extreme step.
“The police team was immediately rushed to the spot after getting the information of the incident. The victim was admitted to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment, ACP Manish Sehgal, spokesperson Gurugram police, said.
“A police team also went to the hospital, but it was not possible for them to take the statement of the victim. Police officers spoke to the boy’s parents. A case will be filed after a statement is recorded,” he said. The school authorities, however, were not available for comments.
