Following the directive of Delhi Chief Secretary DM Spolia, Delhi Government on Monday reconstituted nine-member committees headed by Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) in all 11 districts in order to ensure proper upkeep and cleanliness outside and around Metro stations. There are 144 Metro stations across the city.
The committees, headed by Deputy Commissioners or District Magistrates of Revenue Department in each district, will monitor and ensure cleanliness outside and around Metro stations. The Transport Department too has constituted a similar committee.
“The members of these committees will be Additional District Magistrates, Deputy Commissioners of Traffic Police, Deputy Commissioners of Municipal Corporation of the zone concerned, Director-Enforcement (NDMC), Superintendent Engineers (DJB), Superintendent Engineers (PWD), Deputy Director of Social Welfare Department and nominated representatives of DMRC,” said a senior official of the Transport Department.
The official also said that the committees will meet at least once in a quarter. In April 2013, Delhi Government had constituted a six-member panel in each district to look after these issues. “With the approval of the Chief Secretary, the committees have been reconstituted in each district and will now have nine members each,” he added.
