A large number of people turned up at the ongoing Delhi Book Fair at Pragati Maidan in the Capital on Sunday. It attracted huge crowds with organisers claiming a footfall of more than 50,000. They said all five halls were packed cheek by jowl.
“The huge rush had a telling impact on sales as well. The day saw a book release titled Guru Darshan-Tera Safar by Kant Darshan Publishers; a sit-and-draw competition by B Jain Publishers. Fiction apart, children’s books and biographies have been a clear favourite for bibliophiles this year.
“The youth this year has evinced interest in Star Publications, which publishes regional literature and dictionaries. Its revenue on Day One soared by 300 per cent compared to 2011 figures and by 150 per cent against 2012,” said Amarnath Verma, chairman, Star Publications.
