A mobile recharge shop owner was arrested by Noida Police on Sunday for allegedly making obscene, unwanted calls and messages to a young woman.
The accused, Rizwan (25), used to make random calls to women asking them to develop physical relations. Police said that the accused also threatened some women of dire consequences if they ignored his call.
Police said that the two women, a 20-year-old woman living in Noida Sector 30, and another 30-year-old woman, a resident of Sector 10, had complained about getting obscene messages and calls from the same mobile number.
They had lodged their complaints at Sector 20 police station. The women, in their complaint, had alleged that the accused was forcing them to initiate physical relations with him or face dire consequences.
The 30-year-old complainant said that the caller had warned her that he has been stalking her and may kidnap her daughter while she returns from school. Police said that the mobile phone of the accused was placed on surveillance and he was nabbed on Sunday.
The accused, who runs his mobile shop in Bisrakh area of Greater Noida, confessed that he had extracted the mobile numbers of these women when they visited his shop for recharge or for a new SIM card.
The police have also found over 100 mobile numbers of girls from the seized mobile phone. It is expected that the accused might have targeted more women in the past.“We are investigating into the matter,” said a senior police official.
