Rape victim accuses Gzb police of shielding accused

A rape victim, who is a doctor by profession, has alleged that the Ghaziabad police have been shielding the accused. She claimed that the police did not arrest him though she had informed them that the accused was present at his father’s residence.

The woman police station of Ghaziabad had registered a rape case against Vivek Bhardwaj on the complaint of the victim. In the case registered under Sections 376 and 506 of IPC, the victim had stated that during her studies, she stayed in Inspector Ambika Prasad Bhardwaj’s house as a paying guest. During her stay at Inspector’s house, his son Vivek had physical relationship with her on promise of marriage. After five years of relationship, he refused to marry her.

“Bhardwaj, who is posting as the inspector in the adjoining Bulandshahr district, is giving shelter to the accused. The police officer investigating the case asked her to come next day whenever I go to the police station. In this way, over month has elapsed weakening my case,” she claimed.

The victim had lodged the complaint with the police on February 4, 2014. However, her complaint was entertained after 17 days on February 21. During this period, the accused got engagement with other girl. Even after the registration of the case, the police did not initiate action against the accused despite she informed the police about his whereabouts, she alleged.

The victim also alleged that the father and son have hacked her FB and Whatsapp accounts and have stolen data. Refuting the victim’s allegation, SP City Shivhari Meena claimed that police had conducted several raids to nab the accused in the last 20 days. “A legal course of action will be initiated to seek the NBW and attachment of his properties” Meena added.
