With the arrest of one accused, Ghaziabad police on Tuesday claimed that the five- year-old Indirapuram girl was gangraped by two men.
Earlier, one man was named in the case and the police was conducting raids in Bihar to nab the culprit who had been identified as Afroz. “City police was conducting an extensive patrolling in the area. During this time an informer told the police that a man walking towards Shakti Khan was also involved in the rape case. Acting swiftly, the police over powered him and during interrogation he revealed that Afroz killed the girl and they both raped her,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Deepak Kumar said.
On his confession the police produced him before the court which sent him to 15 days judicial custody. Earlier the Noida MlA Pankaj Singh met the family members of the girl. Pankaj Singh after meeting the family members talked to the UP Chief Minister Aditya Nath Yogi and sought the financial help to the family.
The girl, a priest’s daughter, was missing since Friday last. Police recovered her body from a half-constructed house on intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
The residents said she was raped and murdered, allegedly by Afroz, a mason. The locals also alleged that though the girl was missing since Friday, police did not swing into action and were apathetic towards the issue. Earlier Afroz had stayed in the priest's house as a tenant but was asked to leave after a spat. According to the residents, Afroz, who had moved to a nearby house, have committed the crime to avenge the humiliation.
