The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president and the Ghaziabad MP Rajnath Singh visited five injured victims of armed robbery recuperating in a private city hospital. At noon, the BJP president reached Yashoda Hospital and met Gaurav Garg, the jeweller who sustained three bullet injuries when he was robbed.
After meeting Garg, Singh enquired after the jeweller’s health from the hospital MD Dr Dinesh Arora. Rajnath Singh called on the stamp vendor — Sanjay Garg — who was admitted in the same hospital. The BJP president reached the tehsil compound where deed writers and lawyers are staging a dharna. The local MP on this occasion assured them of all help.
On the tehsil association president’s demand Rajnath Singh assured installation of CCTVs in the tehsil compound. The local MP also visited the jewellers’ dharna site where traders are staging indefinite dharna against rising crime in Ghaziabad.
The BJP president said the law and order situation in the entire State was abysmal. From the dharna site Rajnath Singh visited another victim of theft, Anurag Kansal, who was robbed and critically injured by the robbers. After meeting him Rajnath Singh went to the residence of Vikas Yadav in Sahibabad where a Std X student was attacked and is battling for life in Fortis Hospital. He also met another robbery victim Subhash Bainsla who was divested of cash and jewellery from his Vasundhara residence on Tuesday last.
Earlier angered over a spate of robberies, traders and locals staged dharnas, took out processions and jammed traffic movement in the city. The Circle Officer Atul Yadav said, “Attempts are being made to nab the robbers. The erring SHO of Sihani Gate, who had failed to control crime, has been replaced”.
