During the Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha, senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and MP Sanjay Singh on Thursday said the Central and

State Government should provide Rs 25 lakh compensation to the kin of people who have lost their lives or injured in the natural calamity which took place at Chamoli in Uttarakhand.

The AAP leader said that the four lakh compensation combining the state and centre is insufficient. He said that more than 173 people are missing and the Central Government should expedite the rescue work.

Singh said that the Central Government should give compensation to people who have lost their houses due to this natural calamity.

"Today I want to express my tribute to the 34 people who have lost their lives at the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand due to the devastating natural calamity which took place some days back,” he said.

“We are getting continuous news that the NDRF jawans are working relentlessly to help the local people in the rescue mission. The NDRF teams are working relentlessly in the tunnel where many people are still stuck," he added.

He said, "The state government has given Rs 2 lakhs and the same from the central government. I believe that the compensation amount should be Rs.25 lakhs. I want to request that the state government and the central government should discuss and decide their shares within

themself and to provide this compensation amount to the calamity hit families. This amount should be given to the kin of the people who have either lost their life or injured," he said.
