A 28-year-old medical student in Bengaluru, who hails from Noida, has accused a doctor of Raipur of raping her after they developed a friendship through a matrimonial site. The girl has alleged that both their families were ready for the marriage, but the man. The police have registered a case of rape, fraud and criminal intimidation against the doctor and are on a look out for him.
Police said that the victim is a resident of Sector 34 in Noida is pursuing PG in Gynaecology from a reputed institute in Karnataka. She came into contact with the accused SS Chandel of Raipur through a matrimonial website in January this year, as her family members were searching for a suitable groom for her. Both the families decided to fix their marriage.
According to police, both of them started talking over the phone and meeting each other. The victim has alleged that Chandel promised her that he would marry her and he started calling her to various places. "Chandel indulged in physical relations with her at various places including her house in Sector 34 and in Raipur. later the doctor refused to marry her," the police said, adding the Chandel also threatened the victim.
"The medical examination of the girl has confirmed rape and a case under Sections 376, 420 and 506 have been registered against the accused doctor. A police team has also been sent to Raipur to arrest the accused," said Shivram Yadav, Circle Officer-I, Noida.
