Raining relief after a muggy Monday

Delhiites can expect a pleasant weather in the coming days as the MeT Department has predicted rain this week. The showers on Sunday kept the city relatively pleasant throughout Monday with the maximum temperature staying below the 40°C mark. However, people still had to reel under humid conditions with no rain in sight.

“Rain and thunderstorms are expected this entire week with partly cloudy weather. The moist easterly winds have now started to brush the North-Western parts of India. So Delhi can expect rain in the coming days,” said a MeT official. A day after heavy showers lashed the national Capital bringing the much-needed relief from the sizzling temperature that had prevailed in the city for last several days. Although the day temperature settled at 36.6°C, which was substantially lower than Sunday’s 40.2°C, it was still three notches above normal.

The city received 25.6 mm of rain in the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am. “No rain was recorded in the city between 8.30 in the morning to 5.30 in the evening on Monday,” said a MeT official. However, the rain caused humidity levels to rise, which was recorded at 62 per cent and 88 per cent

during the day. Sunday showers also caused the minimum temperature to plummet to 25.9°C, a degree below normal, after it had hovered above the 30°C mark for almost the entire last week. The maximum too had settled at 30.5°C.

On Tuesday, the weatherman has predicted partly cloudy sky with the possibility of rain or thunderstorms in some parts of the city. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain between 35°C and 26°C, respectively.
