Rain, respite from heat soon

Relief from the scorching heat is expected in the Capital for next few days even as the Weather Department has predicted thunderstorm and rain. The weather is likely to be clear with no more western disturbances.

The city had been experiencing cool and high velocity dusty winds for couple of days due to the western disturbance. Though the weather remained hot during the day time, the morning and evening were relatively cooler and pleasant. “The windy and cool weather was caused due western disturbance which is moving away,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature was 33 degree Celsius, a notch higher than the average and minimum temperature was three notches lower at 20.9 degree Celsius on Monday. The humidity levels hovered between a high of 71 per cent and a low of 37 per cent.

“There is no chance of rain in coming few days. The sky will remain clear and dry weather.  However, the nearby areas like Rajasthan did get a rain shower but unfortunately Delhi remained dry,” said RK Jenamani, director incharge of the meteorological watch office at Delhi Airport.

“Weather has been erratic for last two days. I felt morning and evening were cooler as high velocity wind started blowing in the evening. It was duty all around but the weather surprisingly turned pleasant. It was such a relief,” said Sunita Kalra, an MNC executive, who participated in the protest in the Capital against the police.
