While the national Capital is witnessing freak weather patterns this winter, Meteorological department has predicted rainfall in the city on January 6 that will bring sharp changes in weather.

Notably, this year, the minimum temperature is nine degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius where as the maximum temperature is oscillated between 22 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius.

In previous year the minimum temperature was recorded two and three degrees Celsius on January 2 and 3 and the maximum temperature was fluctuated between 23 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius.

Additional Director General India Meteorological Department (IMD) Dr M Mahapatra said the changing climate conditions in Delhi is not because of global warming.

He said variation in Delhi’s climate primarily depends on the deviations in western disturbances.

“At this time, the western disturbances were usually active over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir region. The system had induced cyclone circulation over Rajasthan that mainly affected the Delhi’s weather, which is delayed this season due to low frequencies,” he said.

Meanwhile, flight operations at Delhi airport were affected as the visibility has fallen drastically due to fog. Two flights were cancelled and over 10 flights delayed due to dense fog which engulfed the runway, airport sources said.

As many 55 trains were running late by several hours while 22 had to be rescheduled.

Meanwhile, according to the forecast of IMD, the maximum temperature will fluctuate between 22 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius for the entire week. And the minimum temperature will remain eight degrees Celsius.

The Met has forecast rain on coming Friday while sky will remain partially clouded on Sunday.
