Hot and humid weather conditions in Delhi are set to be routine now as monsoon is expected to withdraw from the city soon. As Delhiites on Friday experienced sultry weather, the MeT Department has predicted conditions will only worsen in the coming days due to a likely withdrawal of monsoon from North-West India.
“Delhi is unlikely to receive any more rain as monsoon is expected to start withdrawing from North-West India within three-four days,” said BP Yadav, Director of India Meteorological Department (IMD). The current monsoon deficit of Delhi stands at 40 per cent.
In extreme humid conditions, the maximum temperature on Friday settled at 36.2°C, two notches above normal. The maximum was also 0.5 degrees more than Thursday’s maximum. The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.3°C, a notch above the season’s average. According to the MeT Department officials, the humidity oscillated between 40 per cent and 86 per cent, making life uneasy for Delhiites. The weatherman has predicted no rains over the weekend whereas the sky is expected to be clear. “The skies will be mostly clear and the day would be sunny. Partly cloudy sky might happen at some point of the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 36 per cent and 25 per cent,” said MeT Department officials.
