Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday did not attend the public meeting in Sadar Bazar assembly constituency due to being sick. However, he sent a message asking people to make Congress win in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections with a big majority.
Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav informed the public about him not being able to make it to the meeting, which Gandhi was supposed to address. “I have to inform you all about something with deep regret that due to illness Rahul Gandhi won’t be able to join us here today.
However, he has told me to give you a message he has given for you,” he said.
In the message, Gandhi said, “I have a lot of regret that I couldn’t be here in the public meeting in the Sadar assembly but I know a lot of people that love me have come here in huge numbers. I extend you all my best wishes. I feel that the hardwork of my brother Anil Bharadwaj, who has a different stature in the politics of Delhi, and the other candidates from the Congress party who are working hard in this elections, will be rewarded. I appeal to you to make Congress win with big majority. As soon as I am well again, I will try to come to Sadar and meet you. Jai Hind!”
Addressing the public, Yadav slammed both the AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Delhi's river, Delhi's water, Delhi's intentions and Delhi's leader, Kejriwal has ruined everything in the last 10 years. On one hand Kejriwal has become happier and on the other people have become sadder,” he said.
“When in covid time, we were trying to catch our breath and find oxygen cylinders, remember what Kejriwal and Modi were doing. Kejriwal was making his sheeshmahal and Modi was making his rajmahal. They didn’t thing about the people of Delhi? They crossed all levels of shame. Shouldn’t they think about the young people, poor people?” he alleged.
Congress’ Sadar Bazar candidate Anil Bharawaj said, “No name has been registered for ration cards in the past 11 years. We had made 59,000 houses under ‘Rajiv Ratan Yojana’ for the poor in 2013 in different parts of Delhi but Kejriwal couldn’t give even one to the poor. Kejriwal only had to allot them but he couldn’t even do that. Our government has done over all development of Delhi.”
