Quick study of FYUP takes load off parents' mind

In the first open day discussion at Delhi University’s South Campus on Friday, parents and students went back satisfied after the reasoning given to them regarding the benefits of the four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP).

University officials described the course as an inter-disciplinary one. Dr Gulshan Sawhney, Deputy Dean of Students’ Welfare said, “The days of stream-based education are now passé. The FYUP intends to broaden the frame of mind of children by providing them education which is knowledge-based. Through this course the student will not only specialise in a Discipline-I course but also specialise in Discipline-II and application courses.” A parent present at the open day said that this is the first time he felt good about putting his daughter through the FYUP. “I was very apprehensive about the course earlier since I had only heard criticism. But after knowing the inter-disciplinary values this programme will give my daughter, I want her to go for it.”
