A 40-year-old quack murdered his wife on Thursday morning in Tughlakabad area. The accused, Aman Kumar Kar (40), later tried to commit suicide and is currently undergoing treatment.
According to police, the incident took place around 5 am on Thursday. Kar had married Deepa few years ago. She was a widow and had a three-year-old child from her previous marriage. Kar’s 14-year-old niece was sleeping with Deepa during the time of the incident. Kar fled to the second floor of his house when his niece Manisha raised an alarm after witnessing her aunt’s murder. Police said that Kar locked himself in a room at the second floor and tried to hang himself but the cord broke. But he later consumed a poisonous substance.
In the meantime neighbours gathered hearing Manisha’s cry and informed police about the incident.
By the time police reached, Aman was unconscious and froth was coming out of his mouth. Aman was taken to AIIMS where his condition is stated to be critical. Police said that there was a property dispute between Kar and his wife and they were to take divorce on Friday. According to police, Kar had bought a land in West Bengal which was the cause of tension between them as his wife wanted it to be registered on her name. Odisha’s resident Kar married with Deepa, who hailed from West Bengal, five years ago. It was their second marriage. Manisha, in her statement, told police that she tried to stop her uncle but failed.
