PWD starts helpline for plaints on water-logging

Delhi Government’s Public Work Department (PWD) on Wednesday set up a helpline number to deal with complaints of water-logging on roads in the national Capital this monsoon.

An official of PWD said that people can register their complaints regarding water-logging and related problems through a WhatsApp number 8130188222, on the email ID monsoondelhi2017@gmail.com or can sent it at Central Control Room, PWD, GNCTD, 12th Floor, MSO Building, IP Estate, New Delhi-110002 by  June 30.

The unified control room will receive complaints of water-logging from the general public and will further assign them to the concerned office or department for immediate action and resolution.

The PWD has already identified locations which have suffered water logging during monsoon months in the past and desilting work is being carried out.

The department is now requesting the general public to inform about the locations, which suffer from water logging.

The move came after North Mayor Preeti Agarwal on Tuesday visited several drains belonged to PWD and found them choked.

“The City may face water logging due to the Delhi Government’s ill-preparedness on disilting of drains are not satisfactory. Many of the drains which belong to PWD are choked while drains falling under Corporation’s jurisdiction are 98 per cent desilted and that too well before the onset of monsoon,” she said.
