Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satyendar Jain on Thursday directed the concerned officials to stay alert and active in responding to any complaints of waterlogging coming from any part of the national Capital.
The direction came in a meeting chaired by Jain with the officials of PWD and the Irrigation and Flood Control Board regarding the issue of waterlogging in the Capital amid the ongoing rainy season. The meeting also discussed the problem of waterlogging in Narela Industrial Estate because of the low capacity of the existing drain in the area.
While addressing the issue, Jain said: "Be it maintenance, cleanliness, desilting or even building new drains if required, it should be done as soon as possible not only just in Narela, but anywhere in the city so that the people of Delhi do not face any problems due to waterlogging".
"The foremost responsibility of a responsible Government is to not take any problem being faced by the people lightly and a steadfast administration is paramount for a people oriented Government which the Delhi Government is," Jain said. The Ministry has been proactive throughout the monsoon season in holding meetings of officials across concerned departments to ensure that Delhi does not face any problems because of waterlogging.
In a meeting held last month, the Minister had directed the officials to use pumps and refurbish roads quickly wherever waterlogging is there and has caused damage.
