Two brothers, one story- Being deaf from childhood, two brothers who are also United Nations (UN) speakers besides being artists, became voice of the deaf at various national and international forums. Both are the sons of a Supreme Court Lawyer Vikas Chandra.

While Ayush N Chandra recently won ‘National Gaurav Award’ by the UN for being voice of the deaf,  his elder brother Apoorv Om, who is also an artist and a  speaker, in a letter has urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide Cochlear Implants to all deaf children, without any age restriction up to 12 years, on Government expenses.

“I request to the Prime Minister to give me an appointment for meeting to share the ideas about Inclusive Setting of Education with the help of digital technology and also amend the laws barring the treatment of deaf above the age of 12 years on government expenses,” Apoorva wrote in the letter.

Apporva is a Key-note Speaker of UNESCO, young innovative artist and activist from Delhi, who studied in a regular school (Navy Children School) in New Delhi, where he was only deaf among 40 normal students in his class up to 12th standard. He managed without hearing a single sound and became an advocate for inclusion of deaf into mainstream. Apart from that, he has won several awards in painting, sketching, 2D and 3D paintings. Some of his 2d and 3D paintings were exhibited at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France.

Similarly, Ayush N Chandra is a Tabla, Harmonium and Guitar player and a Classical Dancer. Interestingly, he holds mastery in Indian classical dance form Kathak.

He has become one without hearing a single sound in his life. Interestingly, both of them are Yoga and art practitioners and teach children Yoga and art for free.
