A day after they were detained while attempting to take out a protest march to India Gate, JNU students on Monday staged a demonstration outside Police Headquarters in ITO over the missing student.
Najeeb's mother Fatima Nafees and his family members also met Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma and other senior officers who assured them of all possible action in the matter.
After coming out of the meeting, Fatima said, "I have been told that all possible steps are being taken to trace Najeeb. I just want him back."
Nafees, however, refused to comment on the fact that she was allegedly dragged and being detained by Delhi Police on Sunday.
"I'm ready to tolerate more pain than that I went through yesterday just to get my son back," she said.
Najeeb's family members also alleged that the officers didn't talk about Sunday's incident, where they were detained enroute to India Gate and taken to different police stations.
In anticipation of protest by JNU students at police headquarters, the Delhi Police had tightened security and barricades were put on the path from the ITO metro station to the PHQ.
The protest which was attended by over hundreds of students went on till late evening. It led to traffic snarls in the area
