Protect traders from sealing in Capital: CAIT

Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has urged Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Puri to bring an amnesty scheme to protect traders from sealing in the National Capital.

“An amnesty scheme should be introduced with a cut-off date and all business establishments that exists on the cut-off date be allowed to function. In lieu of this, a reasonable charge can also be levied on such authorisation. It will bring a much desired relief to the traders of Delhi whereas the three Municipal Corporations will get a large amount,” said Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of CAIT.

Khandelwal said that after suffering from sealing and demolitions, the traders of Delhi have now understood the importance of Master Plan and therefore this time the traders are more conscious about the Master plan 2041.

He further said that  Delhi is the largest trade distribution center in the country and with a view to provide effective systems for development of Delhi in a structured manner and keeping the trade as a key factor new business avenues will be made available to make Delhi a better city.

Khandelwal said that Puri and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal are fully aware of this fact and we hope that Master Plan 2041 will be crafted with such a mandate. “So far three master plans have been implemented in Delhi but the Authorities including MCDs have utterly failed in discharging their responsibilities envisaged in each Master Plan which made the traders as the sufferer of sealing and demolitions,” he said.

“The DDA has started consultations regarding to Delhi's next master plan 2041 with various people of various sections of the capital and in the same sequence on 1 October, a virtual meeting with the traders of Delhi will be held and that will be attended by prominent trade associations of Delhi under the umbrella of the CAIT,” he said.
