A 40-year-old property dealer identified as Ravinder Kumar was shot dead in his car by unidentified assailants on Wednesday night near Gadoli village in Gurugram.
At the time of the incident, the victim was returning home from his office located in the Kherki Daula area.
According to the police, an unidentified accused waylaid Kumar near Gadoli village and fired a single into his neck, leaving the victim dead on the spot.
The police got to know about the incident on Thursday morning at around 8.00 am when some passersby spotted the body of the victim in the car.
Following a complaint filed by the deceased kin, the police have registered a murder case against an unidentified person at the Sector-10A police station and started probe.
The deceased Ravinder Kumar was a native of Manesar village in Gurugram and was a property dealer.
However, during the preliminary probe police suspect that an old rivalry could be a reason behind the killing.
“The investigation team is collecting more information about the victim’s family if the deceased had developed any enmity with someone or had any monetary dispute with anyone. The team also questioned the victim’s friends who were present with him on Wednesday night at his office at Kherki Daula,” said Subhash Boken, spokesperson of the Gurugram police.
Meanwhile, two teams of the crime branch units along with the Sector-10A police station team are probing the matter from all different angles.
The body has been handed over to the family after an autopsy on Thursday.
“The investigation team are also scanning CCTV footage of the nearby incident spot to get clues about the criminals. We have registered a case and hunts are on to arrest the absconding persons,” Boken said.
