While complaining against the Visual Communication’s Head of Department for using inappropriate language and threatening to fail, students of College of Art in University of Delhi held a demonstration at the college on Monday and also wrote a letter to the Principal, Education Minister, Chairman of Delhi State Women’s Commission, Vice Chancellor and HRD Minister.
In the letter subjected as “complaint against RH Mahajan”, who is the officiating HOD of Visual Communication, students have charged him of “illegal acts of threats to students to fail them, using very rude, abusive and filthy language to the students as well as girl students and provoking, misguiding students while creating differences amongst them.”
The students have asked for his “immediate removal” from office. According to the students, his removal is a must to save the future of the students and avert any “untoward” incidents in the college. Students have used strong language in the letter while divulging the mannerisms of the HOD.
“He threatens the students that he is above the law of land and can do anything, whatever he likes, and nobody will proceed or take any action against him. He said he has the power to fail or manipulate the results of any student of the department,” said students in the letter.
Students also accused Mahajan of giving girls the ‘glad eye’. The letter said, “Girls cannot explain his acts of misbehaviour and filthy abusive personal remarks, words, gestures against them.”
Nearly 77 students signed the letter, which was sent to the principal and copies of which were given to Ministers and the Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh. So far there has been no response from the college authorities on this prompting students to stage a sit-in.
