The Delhi Police is probing a complaint against self-styled godman Ashu Maharaj, his son and his friends which alleges them of raping, molesting and threatening to kill a woman and her minor daughter. Accordingly an FIR was filed in Hauz Khaz police station. The case was transferred to Delhi Police Crime Branch, police revealed on Monday.

The complainant claimed that she was in contact with the self-styled god man Ashu Maharaj, also working as an astrologer since 2008 when she met him for her ailing daughter's treatment. The victim alleged that the accused would strip off her, then, 6-year-old daughter's clothes and massage her.

According to the complaint, when the victim went to Rohini Ashram to deliver Diwali gifts to the accused in 2013, she was spiked and later allegedly raped. On regaining her senses, she questioned the self-styled godman, who threatened to kill her and her family if she revealed the incident to anyone.

In her complaint, the victim claimed that the accused's son and his friends also raped and molested her since 2016. In 2017, the victim was also forced to bring her daughter along with her and when she resisted was beaten up.

A case under sections 376 (dealing with rape), 354 (dealing with sexual harassment) and 506 (dealing with criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal code and the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were registered.
