It was the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram Police (Crime), Sumit Kuhar and his team that prevented an attempt by the security personnel of Dera Sacha Sauda chief to free Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh after his conviction in two rape cases on Friday. It was this team of dedicated and fearless officers who escorted the self-styled godman from Panchkula Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Court to Rohtak Sunaria Jail that day amid the mayhem.

The DCP who was leading the team and keeping an eye on the Dera chief’s security arrangements, took action against the baba's security personnel and arrested them for trying to help him escape after his conviction.

It would be pertinent to mention here that Kuhar and his team had also nabbed self-styled godman Rampal from his Satlok Ashram in 2014.

All the security personnel were arrested on charges of sedition at Panchkula Sector-5 police station and have been sent on a seven-day police remand.

Sources also said Ram Rahim's security personnel also tried to prevent his arrest by lying down in front of the police vehicle he was being taken in. The seven Dera security personnel booked, included Assistant Sub-Inspector Krishan Das, Head Constables Ajay, Ram Singh and Vijay Singh, Constable Balwan Singh (all from Haryana Police) and private security guards Pritam Singh and Sukhbir.

"It was a big responsibility to escort the Dera chief from the court complex to Sunaria Jail in Rohtak. We put all our efforts to complete the task given by the senior officers. The supporters of the accused try to attack us but we successfully completed our job," DCP  Kuhar said.

Meanwhile, security agencies in Gurugram were on high alert on Monday for the aftermath of the announcement of the quantum of punishment to Dera head, who gets 20-years in Jail for rape and sexual exploitation of two female disciples by the CBI special court.

Gurugram administration has made tight security arrangements. There have been no reports of any violence in Gurugram since Friday as security forces remained on alert.

However, the traffic movements at Delhi-Gurugram border on National Highway-48 was disrupted for some time because police were checking the entry and exit of vehicles on the border.

Furthermore, continuing to keep a strict vigil on the border, the Gurugram Police set up seven check post at Jhajjar, Farrukhnagar, Bijwasan, Sirhaul and Mehrauli, Kapashera, on roads going towards Delhi and Faridabad. Meanwhile, the DCPs and ACPs continuing on patrolling on border areas.
