Having moved the mountains for the just-concluded Delhi Assembly polls, the BJP leaders had a day of leisure on Thursday. Its CM candidate Dr Harsh Vardhan, State unit president Vijay Goel and the candidate from New Delhi seat, Vijender Gupta chose to relax in the first half of the day; however, in the evening they assembled at the residence of Delhi BJP in-charge Nitin Gadkari for a feedback meeting over dinner.
In the meantime, they also held random discussions with their close aides analysing the impact of access voting across the Capital. They also held meetings to shortlist their volunteers and agents to be deployed on counting centres on December 8.
For Harsh Vardhan, the day started a bit late than during the last over a month when he was engaged in campaigning since 5.30 am. He took a glimpse of the newspaper headlines with his morning tea. He preferred staying indoors and spent most part of the day meeting his friends and close aides. It was after a long time that Vardhan spent a fairly good time with his family particularly his mother. The family had lunch together before Vardhan left for some personal engagements.
Similarly, Vijender Gupta, who had a packed schedule for the last three weeks after he was fielded against Sheila Dikshit, too had an opportunity to spend some light moments with wife Shobha Vijender. Being a politician, his wife too was busy campaigning for Gupta along with looking after his poll strategy. As Gupta put it, it was after a long time that he had a timely morning tea and brunch together.
“The day began a bit late after a hectic poll schedule. I chose to relax at home with the family. There were no serious discussions but gossip over phone with close friends and associates,” Gupta said. He had plans to go out for a family dinner preferably to Khan Market. The decision was, however, to be made by his wife and children.
Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel chose to spend time playing musical instruments as he was also a relieved man after the polls. In the evening, he visited the party office to have an informal chat with mediapersons and left for a meeting with Gadkari along with several other party colleagues.
