Model Polling Stations attract voters

Decked up polling booths, battery-powered rickshaws and medical facilities were able to attract voters to exercise their franchise in Delhi during the general elections on Thursday. These arrangements were set up at 70 Model Polling Stations (MPS) across the city and drew appreciation from many. For the elders and disabled, wheel-chairs and e-rickshaws were available to ferry them from the entrance gate to the polling booths. Medical assistance, including first-aid and ambulance services was also kept ready at the booths. Help desks, too, were set up inside the stations for a hassle-free voting experience.

Disabled cast hurdle-free vote

Disabled voters carried a wholesome smile on their faces on Thursday after they cast a hassle-free and smooth vote in the Capital. With polling stations equipped with wheelchairs, Braille sheets and designated volunteers for assistance, Delhi’s differently-abled community hailed the provisions made by the Election Commission as a pleasant one. The Delhi Election Commission had provided a wheelchair and two volunteers at each polling station to ensure better accessibility.

Elderly voters lead in lS polls

The national Capital not only brought out the youth to vote but also managed to bring the senior citizens to the polling booth on Thursday. A massive number of elderly voters were seen casting their votes. While this was not expected at all, the people between the age groups of 70 and 90 said that they were determined to see change. 82-year-old Beetaiyya Devi said, “I have never missed any vote till now. Many wonder what change one vote will bring. But I know every single vote counts.”
