Police turn nanny for sisters

The Delhi Police has turned nanny for the two sisters — Himanshi and Deepali — abandoned by their parents in Outer Delhi’s Samaypur Badli area. The cops bought clothes, food and toys for the rescued girls and have been taking turns to look after them while efforts are being made to trace the parents.

After the incident, a team of ten policemen have since then been playing nanny to the children at Ambedkar Hospital. The policemen have been making rounds at the hospital to look after the girls’ condition and have been trying to comfort them. Two police constables have been deputed 24×7 for the rescued sisters.

“The girls are recovering well in the hospital and are out of danger. We were looking for the girls for past one week and we finally managed to track them on Friday,” said DCP (Outer) Vikramjit Singh.

“Two police officials have been deputed in the hospital premises as of now. If the girls need any help or there is any running around required, it can be done in their presence. The girls have nobody to fall back on right now. Once they are declared completely fit, they will be presented before the Child Welfare Committee, who are already in knowledge of the incident, and they will decide the future course of action,” Singh added.

Besides, the Delhi Police personnel not only rescued and took them to hospital for treatment, they launched a campaign at Samaypur Badli police station seeking donation for the girls. They managed some money to buy food, clothes for the girls. Both the sisters have been keeping well and are in a better condition. “Due to the efforts of the local SHO, the police team managed to raise funds for the noble cause. Police try to make such efforts time to time,” said an official.
