To avoid repeat of incidents like ink attack on J&K lawmaker Engineer Rashid and Kerala House row, the Delhi Police top brass have issued instructions to the men and officers involved in day-to-day policing to prepare a comprehensive list of miscreants who claim to be members of fringe right wing groups.
Following which the Special Branch of Delhi Police is preparing a list of hate and trouble mongers to keep a tab on their activities and keeping them under surveillance to prevent them from vitiating the communal atmosphere of the national Capital.
A senior officer told The Pioneer that a list of fringe groups and members is being readied to identify such characters. Special Branch and district police are involved in the process. All these groups and their members will be under constant watch as they have become a pain in the neck for the force. They are not only creating law and order problems in the national Capital but are also responsible for escalating communal tension, the officer said.
Focus is now on Hindu Sena, Sena and Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena elements, who have a history of fomenting trouble. Vishnu Gupta, the president of Hindu Sena was instrumental in throwing ink at Rashid Engineer, the Independent MlA from Kashmir on October 20. He and his supporter had raised slogans, Gau Mata Ki Jai.
Gupta had also attacked Abdul Karim Tunda, a notorious member of lashkar-e-Taiyyeba (leT), when he was being produced at Patiala House courts in 2013, the official said. Not only that, Gupta had also created quite a scene at Kaushambi office of Aam Aadmi Party in January, 2014, he added. Gupta had also served as Vice President of Shiv Sena’s Delhi unit but had resigned owing to the North Indians issue in Mumbai.
Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena is also under the watch ever since its members attacked noted lawyer Prashant Bhushan and launched a campaign against writer Arundhati Roy. Bhushan was targeted by this group after he advocated plebiscite in Kashmir.
“Hindu Sena and Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena are the offshoots of Sri Ram Sene and have been involved in a series of activities in the city. Gupta of Hindu Sena and TPS Bagga of Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena broke away from Sri Ram Sene in 2008 and formed their own outfits.
Also, police officials said they will provide security to Ghulam Ali, the noted Pakistan Ghazal singer from Pakistan if his concert is held in the city. None of these groups would be allowed any leeway and they will be dealt with according to law, the official further said.
