The Delhi Police Crime Branch on Tuesday morning took the Olympian Sushil Kumar to the Chhatrasal Stadium to recreate the crime scene. A team of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) on Tuesday also visited the flat in Model Town, from where the wrestler Sagar Dhankar was allegedly abducted and also scanned the three cars that had been recovered from the crime scene.

“Kumar was taken to the stadium on Tuesday morning to recreate the scene of the crime and ascertain the sequence of events that unfolded on the day of the incident,” said a senior police officer.

Meanwhile, the FSL team collected various samples from the flat and the vehicles. “The three cars which were recovered from the crime scene were inspected by the FSL team.

Police scanned them for fingerprints and collected several other things as part of the ongoing investigation,” said the officer.

Earlier, police had recovered a double barrel gun and batons from one of the cars, a Mahindra Scorpio, which was found from the crime spot in the stadium’s parking. The car is suspected to belong to a member of the Neeraj Bawania gang and is thought to have been used in the abduction of Sagar.

The two-time Olympic medallist Kumar, who was arrested in connection with the  death of Sagar, was interrogated for almost four hours after he was arrested along with his associate Ajay, from outer Delhi’s Mundka area on Sunday.

Police said that the Crime Branch is investigating the murder of Sagar from all angles.

“Police is also investigating the role of gangsters, including Neeraj Bawania and Sandeep alias Kala Jhatedi,” said a senior police official.

“Kumar was also asked about his associates and friends who helped him to hide when he was on the run,” said a senior police official, involved in the investigation.
