General secretary of Jawaharlal Nehru National Youth Centre (JNNYC) Purushottam Goyel has accused the Delhi Police of shielding P Goverdhan Reddy, a sitting Member of Parliament, Indira Mayaram, a former Rajasthan Minister and many of their accomplices in a case of alleged fraud, forgery and criminal conspiracy. Goyel has alleged that due to the “status of the offenders”, police is refusing to file an FIR against them.
According to a statement issued by JNNYC, Reddy and Mayaram, along with Ramesh Tiwari, Vishnu Prasad and 25 other miscreants “raided the chamber of the general secretary of JNNYC” and presented a “so called resignation letter” by ND Tiwari, the former Union Minister and the founder and national president of JNNYC. The letter said that Tiwari had resigned from the post of the president and had appointed Reddy and Mayaram as “future caretakers of this centre”.
Tiwari on Tuesday sought to refute that he ever resigned as the President of JNNYC. “Why should I resign when I founded this institution to further the legacy of Pt Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi,” Tiwari said.
After the arrival of the police, including the local SHO, Tiwari confirmed over phone that he had not resigned, said the statement. A letter signed by Tiwari confirming that he had not resigned from the post was also forwarded to the SHO.
Goyel accused that despite a request being made to the SHO to register a criminal complaint against Reddy and Mayaram, no FIR was registered. While the police acknowledged the facts that Reddy and Mayaram showed up with a resignation letter allegedly signed by ND Tiwari, which later turned out to be false, in the police report submitted to Metropolitan Magistrate, Tis Hazari Court, it maintained that “no cognizable offence is made out”, the statement said.
