The sleuths of the Delhi Police Crime Branch, probing  bribery charges against AIADMK Deputy General Secretary TTV Dinakaran post the arrest of his alleged middleman Sukesh Chandrasekar, have been able to dig out the recordings of the calls exchanged between the two.

Police sources said that apart from the call recordings which they have been able to access from Chandrasekar’s mobile phone, they have also prepared a list of 17 people whom they will be questioning in the days to come.

During sustained interrogation in police custody, Chandrasekar confessed that before coming to Delhi on April 15 on his mission to bribe the Election Commission to let the Dinakaran faction retain the party’s ‘Two leaves’ symbol for the bypoll, he stayed for four days in Chennai and Kochi in Kerala.

Meanwhile, the team of Crime Branch which flew down to Chennai to serve summons on Dinakaran in the corruption case claimed that Dinakaran has asked them to give him a few more days to join the investigation. However, the Delhi Police turned down his appeal.

Sources said that in light of the two to three minute call recording which the police team have been able to access, they are preparing a list of 17 people who are also allegedly linked to Dinakaran as his middlemen. “The call recordings have been sent to forensic laboratory for analysis. The calls exchanged between Dinakaran and his middleman Sukesh primarily revolve around the conversation regarding the Rs 50 crore which was to be transacted,” sources said. On the night of April 15, a team of Delhi Police Inter State Cell of Crime Branch had raided the Hotel Hyatt Regency and apprehended Sukesh Chandrasekar. Police had said at that time that they had also found Rs 1.30 crore in the denominations of Rs 2,000 currency notes in the possession of Sukesh.
