Delhi witnesses one to two murders on the average everyday. Though Delhi Police officers claim that their performance in solving murders cases is far better than that of other police forces, the premier police force of the country has been found wanting in cracking some gruesome murders that shook the conscience of the city.
In many unsolved cases, the killers are still roaming freely despite all-out efforts of the seasoned investigators. Officers involved in the investigations have tried their bag of tricks but their leads have dried up. No murder is a perfect. But, in certain cases, murderers have proved smarter than the police. The Delhi Police has drawn a blank and the officers supervising these investigations have no plausible answers to offer.
Even in the sensational murder case of Deepak Bhardwaj, South district police took almost two weeks to crack the conspiracy despite killers committing a blunder on the spot itself. It appears that the time tested method of “From Crime to Criminal and Criminal to Crime” needs to be revisited by the Delhi Police and its investigators as the criminals have beaten the cops in their own game. Crime against women, senior citizens and children have been an area of concerns but despite several steps taken by Delhi Police to curb crime, the national Capital continues to witness violence against them and even after a year; the Delhi Police have not solved the sensational murders, including triple murders and double murders that rocked the Capital in 2012 and they are still groping in the dark.
Though after the incident, investigators had claimed that they had several leads and they were questioning all the people. After probing from all the angles and questioned over 1,000 people, investigators are still waiting for some major breakthrough as all the unsolved murder cases came in a dead end.
Many a time, several other teams of Delhi Police such as Crime Branch and Special Cell got some clue after intercepting the call and arrested some burglars. However, their all effort went in the vein in some cases. Every time, senior officers of the Delhi Police claimed that safety and security of senior citizens and women will be their top priority, crime against these vulnerable groups continues.
