A 5-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 32-year-old neighbour in northwest Delhi on Monday, police said.
The incident was reported on Sunday evening when the girl was playing outside her home, while her mother was inside their home in Haiderpur village, said a senior police officer.
When the mother came out to check on her daughter, she could not find her, who was kidnapped by the accused, police said.
She was found in nearby bushes and was then rushed to a hospital, where doctors told her parents that she had been sexually assaulted, said the officer.
A case was registered under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and the relevant sections of POCSO, police said.
The accused was drunk and roaming around the area when the girl was playing. He kidnapped her and then sexually assaulted her and left her in the bushes, the officer said. The accused is absconding and police is on the lookout for him.
