Former Delhi Minister Sandeep Kumar — arrested on rape charges on Saturday after a sex CD surfaced — was sent to one day police remand by a Delhi court on Sunday. The order came after police sought his custody to investigate if other women were also exploited by Kumar, who was removed by the AAP from his post on August 31, after the video surfaced, showing Kumar in a "comprising position" with two women.

AAP MlA Kumar — the 36-year-old MlA from Sultanpuri Majra and former Delhi Social Welfare Minister  — was presented before Duty Metropolitan Magistrate Shirish Aggarwal, where Delhi Police sought 14-day police custody for him.

However, the fortnight remand request was questioned by Kumar’s lawyer, saying that they are cooperating with police. Meanwhile, during the hearing the court has also slammed the Delhi Police for adding Prevention of Corruption Act in the FIR.

The Delhi Police in its remand application said it needs to recover the device with which the recording was done thus requiring Kumar’s custody. Police stated the victim was raped on the pretext of giving her a ration card. During the hearing she did not say much regarding the source where she saw the footage.

Meanwhile, Kumar in his defense stated that his friend Praveen leaked the pictures and circulated it. He said Praveen had been blackmailing him and threatened to harm his public image.

later, the woman seen in the video also alleged that he had assaulted her. The woman said the incident had taken place a year ago, when she had gone to him for help in getting a ration card. According to her, he drugged her, took her to a room and assaulted her.

He was arrested under Section 376 (Rape), 328 (Causing hurt by means of Poison), and IT Act of IPC.
