In a swift action, the Special Cell of Delhi Police averted a gunfight in Rohini district courts with the arrest a gang of 10 hardened criminals. The arrested gangsters belong to the notorious Neeraj Bawana gang and they had come fully prepared to eliminate Pradeep, alias Bhola, a member of a rival Neetu Dabodia gang. Dabodia was killed in an encounter with the Special Cell but his gang is still thriving and is now being headed by one Paras, alias Goldy. Pradeep was to be produced in Rohini courts on Wednesday.
Special Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, SN Srivastava claimed that they prevented a carnage at the Rohini district courts with arrest ten criminals who were armed to the teeth. The security and safety of other litigants, lawyers and the court staff could have been at peril but the effective counter measures scuttled their hideous designs, he said.
“Interestingly, the chosen assassin of the ten men is a newbie of just 23-year-old identified as Vikas Dabas, alias Fauji, who had come dressed in an advocate’s attire and was carrying two ‘case files’ to evade checking and frisking,” said Srivastava. He was carrying two sophisticated pistols.
“Dabas had even managed to enter the court complex concealing the two sophisticated pistols but an alert policemen recognised him at the first floor of the court building a swiftly arrested him,” he said.
His other nine associates, who came in the three cars —a Maruti 800, a Maruti Swift and Tata Safari — through different routes, were also arrested by teams of the Special Cell, which were deployed at strategic locations in and around the court complex.
Pradeep, who is presently lodged in Rohini jail, is a close aide of associate of Neetu Dabodia. The presence of both Rahul and Pradeep in the same jail was bound to make sparks fly.
“Naveen Bali, who is currently lodged in Nemka Jail, Faridabad feared for his younger brother Rahul’s life in the jail so he decided to eliminate Pradeep when he was to be produced on Wednesday before a Sessions Court where he is facing trial,” said Srivastava.
The Special Cell, which has been tasked to take effective action against organised criminal syndicates operating largely in North West and Outer District areas were developing information about this conspiracy, which was being orchestrated by Naveen Baali from within the Nemka Jail, Faridabad.
It was learnt that Naveen was using his associates for arranging weapons and for receding the Rohini Court complex for executing the crime, said Srivastava. Between 10:30 and 11:00 AM, in a swift and professional operation, different deployed teams successfully apprehended all the 10 criminals who had arrived at the Court Complex. Sustained interrogation of the arrested accused is being carried out to verify their antecedents.
Those arrested have been identified as Vikas Dabas alias Fauzi (23), Vinod alias Zehri (28), Rajkumar alias Bamba (28), Manjeet alias American (28), Surender alias Atti (37), Ravinder (44), Ravinder alias Bania (32), Vicky (20), Dinesh alias Ponu (24) and Sunil Rana (21), police said.
